Aroa is a Spanish photographer based between Rotterdam and Madrid. Since childhood, she has channeled her creative drive through visual expression. She studied philosophy but soon realized her need to create and materialize ideas, shifting her focus to photography as a way to capture and make. Starting with a small analog camera to document friends, family, and everyday moments, her intuitive practice evolved into a profound tool for self-understanding and observation.
Her work draws from cinematography, storytelling, and personal themes, prioritizing images with subtle intention and meaning, whether a full narrative or quiet reference. She blends analog and digital processes with experimental techniques like cyanotype and darkroom practices, merging photography with cinema, crafts, and emotional depth to create layered, shareable experiences.
Interested in editorial and commercial practices with documentary at their core, Aroa implements these approaches in her work to uncover deeper meaning in every project. As a sensitive observer, she crafts honest, authentic visuals that resonate with intention and emotional truth.
